ESSENDON key forward Michael Hurley is now in doubt for next Thursday’s ANZAC Day clash against Collingwood after injuring his ankle in yesterday’s match against St Kilda.
Hurley, 22, was subbed off after falling awkwardly and injuring his ankle in a marking contest during the third quarter of the club’s 37 point win at Etihad Stadium.
“I doubt he’ll play Thursday, to be honest,” said Essendon coach James Hird during his post-match press conference.
“We’ll go and get some x-rays done now and know in the next 24 hours the extent of it.
“It will really depend on the swelling. He’s up and about walking, which we didn’t think would happen when he hurt it.”
